Self promotion and bias[edit]

The following is from a person who hides their identity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.93.27.195 (talkcontribs) 12:44, 5 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This article is comical. The amount of unnecessary statements, weak sources, and qualifications included in this article make it laughably poor. It is in major need of a rewrite, or possibly even deletion as I fail to see the necessity of having an article dedicated to the CV of an oncologist. Wikipedia is not LinkedIn, nor a monument to every single person's life's achievements, it is an encyclopedia. Mr anonymous username (talk) 20:47, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There are certainly a whole bunch of issues going on with this article that need addressing.

  1. Lots of MOS:PEACOCK (I've cut some of the worst offenders)
  2. Edits by what appears to be subject of the article, Justinstebbing (talk · contribs) (I've informed of the COI policies)
  3. Edits by an unusually large number of Wikipedia:Single-purpose accounts, with oddly similar allcaps usernames, which at a glance raise warning signs of possible COIs:
  4. Regular edits to remove unflattering material, e.g.:
    • Gradual erosion and removal of GMC suspension section: [1] [2] [3] (I've reverted this, since it appears to be an important and well-referenced part of a BLP)
    • Removal of mention of a retraction [4]

I will need to find some time to check through the edits made by the SPAs properly, but from a first glance they are full of warning signs that they could be a combination of untrustworthy and unencyclopedic -- it may be that they just need rolling back in full. Requested edits June 2024[edit]

please add

Since 2024, Professor Stebbing serves of the Board of Directors for Etira Therapeutics and Portage.

The GMC misconduct coverage was very biased and unfair and the hippocratic oath comment should be removed

Done by Steinsky for the first part of this request.
no Declined second part. That isn't an edit request. The section is cited to reliable sources, so deletion is not an option, but reviewers would consider specific requests in the form of "change X to Y" provided that reliable sourcing isn't compromised. ~Anachronist (talk) 17:13, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have added the board positions.
Regarding the GMC section, please explain what specifically you think is untrue or misleading, and provide suitable sources. Two Wikipedia policies in particular need to be followed here:
That is, Wikipedia articles report what has been published in reliable sources and must not draw their own conclusions that are not supported by the published literature. In this case, the contents of the GMC section come from several published sources. If something important is missing, please specify and provide the source for what is missing. If other sources contradict the currently cited sources, please provide those. Thanks --Joe D (t) 17:18, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
