Smörgåstårta[edit]
Is this dish a cake or a sandwich? Additionally, if anyone can add any sources to prove this dish's notability, that would be much appreciated. BaduFerreira (talk) 15:38, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
- Your question is privy to perpetual debate in Swedenland, it is unlikely to be settled before we're all dead and buried. :) Draken Bowser (talk) 15:56, 13 April 2024 (UTC)
- Background: BaduFerreira thinks that it is a sandwich and removed the texts about cake. Based on what the article said, in my opinion it is somewhere halfway a sandwich and cake. But as long as BaduFerreira gives no sources of it being a sandwich/not being a cake, the standing consensus should be maintained. The Banner talk 07:40, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- I think you're right, if I can find the time among my other projects I'll try to help out with sources. In the meantime we can consider the following description from the first sentence of the Swedish article: "Smörgåstårta is a cake-like sandwich dish.." Draken Bowser (talk) 07:50, 14 April 2024 (UTC)
- Maybe Julle can translate Endast Sverige svenska smörgåstårtor har to English to help sort this out... /Haxpett (talk) 13:06, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- I'd argue most sources talk about it primarily as a cake made out of sandwiches, rather than a cake-like sandwich. See for example:
- Smörgåstårtan fyller 50 år (Sveriges Television)
- Smörgåstårtans historia (ICA)
- Smörgåstårtans verkliga historia eller Vad är det för upphovsrätt i en maträtt? (Taffel)
- Smörgåstårtan – hetare än någonsin? (Expressen), contradicting some information about the history of the smörgåstårta in the SVT article linked above
- Varför finns det fortfarande smörgåstårta? (Sveriges Radio, radio, not the short text)
- Removing all mentions of cake is not line with how the sources treat it. /Julle (talk) 14:15, 19 April 2024 (UTC)

GA Nomination[edit]
Hello all! I've put Erik Sparre (1550–1600) up for my first Good Article nomination and am hoping to get it to FA after the fact. I would appreciate anyone who might be willing to complete the GA request or at least help to confirm that my Swedish sources have been translated well for any prospective GA review. Thanks! ThaesOfereode (talk) 14:33, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not confortable doing full GAN-reviews yet, but feel free to ping me if a potential reviewer wants someone to do a source review. Draken Bowser (talk) 15:03, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Draken Bowser: Thanks! Would you be willing to take a look at Janbrink 2006 before the review starts? That source contains the most amount of unique information that I wasn't able to corroborate with English-language sources. Even just a spot-check on sentences that only use that source would be a huge help to me! ThaesOfereode (talk) 15:41, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- I'll put it on my to-do list, might take a week or two before I can get to it. Draken Bowser (talk) 18:19, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- No worries, thanks for taking the time! ThaesOfereode (talk) 10:54, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
