Virtually identical to standard edition, no critical commentary possible for the minor differences, so fails WP:NFCC. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 06:18, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Article already has one non-free piece of media. A second cannot be justified under WP:NFCC. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 06:54, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

File:Christmas on Mars photo.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Beyond My Ken (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).

Article already has non-free media to identify it and this is not discussed critically or used educationally. Fails WP:NFCC. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 07:18, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The image shows -- and the other non-free image does not -- how the "Martian" cast is represented in the film. Incidentally, this ia another instance of Koavf harrassing me by searching for images I've uploaded in order to nominate them for deletion. Beyond My Ken (talk) 17:29, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Again, you are making up stuff: please stop doing that. I have not engaged in any streak of looking up your inappropriate uploads. It's not my fault if you upload non-free media without conforming to WP:NFCC. If you familiarize yourself with this policy, then you won't have this issue in the future. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 03:39, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
When I have the time, I will show conclusively that your activities are directed personally at me, in violation of WP:HARASSMENT - but, in any case, the image in question is obviously illustrative of the production aspects of the film. Beyond My Ken (talk) 16:58, 20 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You cannot show that because it's not true. Either way, "he's mean to me" is not a policy argument based on NFCC. Your uploads need to follow this policy which has legal implications and they haven't. You made the same conspiratorial and untrue claim last time one of your images was up for deletion and it was just as non-policy based at the time and got deleted. I didn't even see who uploaded it: it was just obvious that it didn't belong as it failed NFCC. If you want your files to not be deleted, please stop with your false and irrelevant claims about how you think I am personally oppressing you and have an actual policy-based defense of this upload as well as the previous one. It is entirely coincidental that two of your files are inappropriate and I happened to be the one who pointed it out. It's unfortunate that you are evidently acting in bad faith and refuse to believe it. Either way, none of that has to do with NFCC and it criteria. ―Justin (koavf)TCM 00:15, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - There is no signifcant sourced critical commentary about the image, or any visual aspects of the film to support its use in the article. Fails WP:NFCC#8. -- Whpq (talk) 18:21, 21 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete The screenshot is used in the Cast section and there is no critical commentary of the image itself, it does nothing to increase the reader's understanding of the film and its exclusion is not detrimental to the understanding of the film, thereby failing WP:NFCC#8. This image is free - the privacy policy of the official website says "Information presented on this web site is considered public information and may be distributed or copied". —Matr1x-101 (Ping me when replying) {user page (@ commons) - talk} 16:29, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep: I am confused by the rationale here. Surely, if something has a less restrictive license, the solution would be to remove the fair-use rationale template and move the image to Commons, not to delete it entirely? Unless this has already happened and you have not mentioned doing so. At any rate, I am not sure about the license text you quote here. The closest thing I can come up with is commons:Template:Copyrighted free use -- I don't know how it would go over if you put this on Commons, someone might get a little feisty and nom it because it's not explicitly under a free license. jp×g 21:44, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@JPxG: Sorry for the confusion, I am saying we should move it to Commons undr {{Copyrighted free use}}. —Matr1x-101 (Ping me when replying) {user page (@ commons) - talk} 11:45, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, yes. In that case I support this. I will change my comment. jp×g 22:00, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per the conversation above. jp×g 22:01, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retain non-free license - All that is declared on the web site is that the information is public and can be copied. It makes no declaration of a free license nor is there any indication that derivative works and non-commercial use is permitted. -- Whpq (talk) 03:21, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Whpq: "[M]ay be distributed or copied" is clearly a declaration of a copyrighted free use licence. That's like saying "go ahead use this picture" doesn't mean I gave you permission to use the picture, I just said you can use it. Copyright releases aren't that strict. Besides, it says directly after that "Use of appropriate byline/photo/image credits is requested", which further suggests that they have purposefully released any material on the website into PD. —Matr1x-101 (Ping me when replying) {user page (@ commons) - talk} 16:31, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that copyright releases don't need to be strict, but this is not an unambiguous release of PD. It only states you can copy stuff, and the request for credit is similar to any number Creative Commons licenses asking for attribution which include those that don't allow derivatives and don;t allow commercial use. I think the intention to release to PD is at all clear when the web site still carries a copyright notice. -- Whpq (talk) 13:40, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not used any longer on the English WP; the German sentence is simply wrong. Correct would be "Was kam zuerst ..." I'm a native German speaker and I don't think I could understand the sentence without the English an d Dutch versions. Finally, the file is unsourced. In addition, the User:Applaused uploaded large amount of non-free media to Wikipedia and have a history of WP:VAND. Benjamin Ceci (talk) 13:10, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
