The result of the discussion was: rename to Category:Fictional game hunters. No prejudice against renomination for merging. (non-admin closure) HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 00:38, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: rename to something more explicit in clear contrast to the sibling categories. Marcocapelle (talk) 18:56, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: split. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 18:58, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Category:Fictional hunters should be a container category for categories like Category:Fictional bounty hunters and Category:Fictional monster hunters. This way, they can all remain within the category tree while not be directly be a sub the animal hunting JDDJS (talk to mesee what I've done) 01:58, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • I am not following nom's last sentence but I do not have any objection, it seems a very natural way of diffusing this tree. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:37, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose "Hunter" is generally implied to mean "animal hunter", this is an unnecessary WP:NARROWCAT creation that does not assume readers have common sense. "Bounty hunter" can be a valid subcategory while "hunter" still refers to the animal version. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 16:44, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • In real life you are correct. But here in fiction we also have monster hunters and treasure hunters. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:36, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support In the fictional space, this makes sense. - RevelationDirect (talk) 02:21, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per above. There are different types of hunters, and in fiction it is not a WP:NARROWCAT. I was originally going to cite WP:SHAREDNAME in opposition, but realized that hunting can be defined as seeking something, whether it be treasure, monsters, bounties, animals, etc. HouseBlaster (talk · he/him) 22:44, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keep Category:Fictional hunters the way it is, but instead merge Category:Fictional professional hunters into Category:Fictional hunters. AHI-3000 (talk) 20:13, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: no consensus whether OCVENUE applies here. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 19:01, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCVENUE and the consensus derived from Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2023_February_4#categories_named_after_sports_venues. User:Namiba 14:31, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • As discussed in the previous discussion, WP:OCVENUE deals with venues by event, but the nominated categories are events by venue, which is something different. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:43, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
WP:OCVENUE specifically states "avoid categorizing events by their hosting locations." and go on to mention an arena, Madison Square Garden. I think OCVENUE applies perfectly here.--User:Namiba 17:21, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as these seem defined by their location and not WP:OCLOCATION. Obviously any national tours should be purged and specific categories like Category:Events at Chicago Theatre may not be viable. (Note: I disagree with WP:OCVENUE's concern that large categories by venue "would not be readable", since the effect would be to upmerge these events to even larger city categories.) — Preceding unsigned comment added by RevelationDirect (talkcontribs) 02:16, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure who wrote the above comment, but can you explain how they're defined by the venue? The location is defining but how is the venue itself defining in the vast majority of circumstances?--User:Namiba 19:18, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the signature! If there's an event at a single venue, I think the venue can be the location as this seems like a reasonable way of diffusing larger cities. (If there is not a consensus here, we should review WP:OCVENUE to make sure this part of the editing guideline still has community support.) - RevelationDirect (talk) 03:07, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think it makes more sense to diffuse large categories by sport rather than stadium. In very few cases is the stadium in which a sporting event occurs a defining feature. That's why I think Category:Baseball competitions in Chicago and Category:Political conventions in Chicago, for example, should be kept but these deleted.--User:Namiba 14:39, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: This is oddly specific. There is neither a parent category for Peruvian nurses, nor a parallel men nurses category. LadyofShalott 15:14, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ah. I didn't look up-category that way. I happened upon this one. I don't have time to look at the others now, but if the same circumstances apply to others, I would support their renaming as well. LadyofShalott 21:48, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. There doesn't need to be a parallel version for both genders. The solution here is to create an ungendered parent category for Peruvian nurses Mason (talk) 20:27, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
An ungendered version is exactly what I proposed. LadyofShalott 21:49, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No. You are proposing renaming and replacing the category. I am saying that we should create an additional category to solve this problem. Mason (talk) 03:18, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: I created the category originally as a translation from the one in Spanish (es:Categoría:Enfermeras de Perú). It doesn't have entries from male nurses, and from what I gather the same currently happens with the category in English.
I leave up to the community to decide what they think it's best. --NoonIcarus (talk) 02:40, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose I agree with Mason, we need a new parent category. Dimadick (talk) 08:10, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Question why do y'all want a parent category only to hold a single category? That seems like adding unnecessary layers. What use is there in it? LadyofShalott 13:33, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It wouldn't just hold the child category. It would also hold all the nurses who should be diffused to the parent category. Mason (talk) 20:56, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose isolated nomination. This was the only Fooan women nurses category without a Fooan nurses category, so I have created Category:Peruvian nurses, which can be deleted if necessary. It would make sense to have a discussion about whether the current Category:Women nurses and subcategories are useful. TSventon (talk) 14:54, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
