  • Delete Unreferenced listcruft. No evidence for why such a categorization is merited.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 20:55, 22 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - I love list articles because they offer an alternative to categorization. All the supervillians are blue links to notable supervillians. Barbara   01:46, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment do you have a policy based in reason for keeping them or do you just like it? JDDJS (talk) 02:15, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • The book that you link to is about black superheroes, not black supervillains. JDDJS (talk) 18:07, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. It seems to me that some, if not most, of these supervillains (whatever that means) can be played by either a black or a white actor. For example, Catwoman is listed as black, but in only some of the Batman series. She's been played by Julie Newmar and Michelle Pfeiffer, among others, and was apparently inspired by Jean Harlow - you can't get much whiter than that! I suggest that we don't need this list any more than we need a List of white supervillains or a List of Asian supervillains or a List of supervillains from minority groups. It can only serve to create controversy. Deb (talk) 11:48, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Are you saying that because a character can be (or has been) given a race lift, that their race is not worth noting? Argento Surfer (talk) 13:40, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • What do you mean by a "race lift"? What I'm saying is that a list of black supervillains - if it were useful, which I don't think it is - should list black supervillains, not white supervillains that have been played by black actors. Deb (talk) 14:59, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
        • Race lifting is when a character's race is changed when a story is retold or adapted. It's a pun on face lift. In your example of Catwoman, Halle Berry was portraying a black woman in her film, so the character was black in that film. She wasn't playing a white character. Argento Surfer (talk) 15:36, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
          • Thanks for the explanation. But Catwoman is white in most screen portrayals and, most importantly, white in the original comics. So how can she be considered a black supervillain? Deb (talk) 15:52, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
            • I wouldn't include her on the list myself, but the fact that she has been portrayed by black actors doesn't seem like a good rationale for deleting this list. Argento Surfer (talk) 16:39, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. While the subjects are notable, the list is not. A category may suffice, a standalone article is not necessary. This !vote goes together with that for List of film supervillains Gianvito Scaringi (talk) 15:16, 29 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
