Nexus 6 USB OTG

I updated the Nexus 6 article yesterday but you deleted the changes because the reference I used was to a personal blog. I actually own the Nexus 6 phone with Android 6 installed and can confirm that USB OTG does work. However, I cannot find a better reference than the one I added yesterday.

What do you suggest I do to resolve the issue? I really think that it's important that this feature get mentioned in the article since the current version of the article isn't quite accurate since Android 6, which was released last year, actually fixed the problem.

Two questions:

If anything, when I engaged in my most recent edit of the eOne article, I simply took/copied information available from eOne's own website, specifically, the timeline published on eOne's own website. Hello, let's have an edit war! First to be clear, this section was written by me (I can't remember whether I was logged in at the time, and I created another wikipedia account when I couldn't remember an email address).

You removed an entire section commenting that it was NPOV griping. I take issue with this, most of the content was entirely factual and the limitations of a database are very relevant, a single sentence comparing it more complete forms of access to court reports (such as those that exist in the US and australia), may indeed have been non-neutral, or in some way counted as "original research / opinion", though it is tautologically true.

Anyway, this is all water under the bridge. I have restored the section and tried to make it more neutral / justify it's relevance, by

  • Removing the sentence commenting upon the effects of the restriction
  • Referring the issues surrounding "Judgmental" and a Guardian commentary piece on the issue with citations to make clear that these limitations are to be considered notable.
  • Included information about BAILII's justification, citing sources (making the material more balanced)
  • Separated information about the sourcing of material and clarifying the nature of its privileged status (a (private) contract with MoJ).

I have also restored the word partial to the headline. The completeness of a database is significant... given that it's fighting against lexis. However, you might argue that it's intrinsically impossible for a complete set of all case law to exist in the UK, given you can use any judgement you can find in a court of law.

Anyway, see what you think. If you still think it is not neutral I can try harder. If you think that it's not really notable, I can try harder to convince you or we could find some other people to adjudicate. (Alex Wright (talk) 15:12, 14 September 2016 (UTC))

Windows 10 - Cortana forcing people to use Bing and Edge.

It was not my intent to "gripe". I was trying to note what Microsoft did. Cortana now forces the user to use Bing and Edge, which is uncompetitive and obnoxious behavior. (I can say that here because this is not an article.)

It doesn't seem excusable to me to ignore the user's stated preferences. And the timing (right after Microsoft's supervision from the Department of Justice from their antitrust trial) doesn't seem coincidental.

Perhaps you can suggest better phrasing, but I merely stated what they did, why they said they did it, and what users can do to take back control of their computer. Why is that a problem? You haven't told me how anything I posted wasn't factual.

It's a fact that many people who upgrade will want to know how to fix Cortana to respect their preferences, so I feel that this is valuable information.

Perhaps we need to escalate this to someone else?

Hi, in regards to your revert of my revert on Food Network (Australia), my issue is with the wording you have chosen to use. Under your wording, you have said "The relationship includes access to programmes from its U.S. counterpart" which is in contrast to the existing text "SBS also has a programming deal with Scripps which will see numerous American Food Network programs on the channel." Your text implies the Australian channel has access to all programs from Food Network U.S., which is not included in the source, and is not true. I'm going to answer here, since I don't think you would be notified if I did so on my own page.

My rationale was this: The extremely quick recall and discontinuation of the Note 7 is probably one of the most distinguishing aspects of the device. For me, putting this information only at the end of the lead section's final paragraph comes close to burying the lede and goes counter to the principle of the inverted pyramid, which is also referenced in WP:CREATELEAD.

See, e.g. the page about Pope Benedict XVI. The first paragraph includes his birthday, the day he got elected as a pope and the day he decided to resign (a highly unusual thing to do for a pope). The following three paragraphs of the lead section deal with his life and career in chronological order. In the same vein, I think the first paragraph about the Note 7 should include its introductory date, the basic circumstances around its development and introduction and the fact that it was discontinued after an unusually short time.

I think it would be a better article if we put the most relevant info at the very top (the WP guidelines don't require it, but nether do they prohibit it), but I don't have the time or energy to fight for making the article better, so I'm not going to change anything back or start a discussion about it on the talk page. Having said that, it would have been nice if you had contacted me for clarification before simply reverting the edit. (See also WP:DONTREVERT)

Major changes without discussion to Viceland

Regarding your edits to the Viceland/Canada articles, there has been no consensus about merging Viceland with VL Canada. If there has, please provide a link. And as I mentioned in the comments of the edit, your edits to the VL Canada article contradict the implied consensus among all other Canadian TV channel articles as they all have separate articles when there is a localized version in Canada. Simply because they may have launched on the same date or that Rogers is a partner in the production studio doesn't mean they are one and the same, they are separate channels with separate histories, ownerships, etc. Bio was a rebrand of a totally different channel, it was not a shut down and launch of a new channel. Hi Vipersnake151. I see that you commented on the Help page question I had regarding Hollywood Suite, so you're aware of the issue. So I thought I'd hash it out with yourself and hopefully we can come to a resolve regarding the issue - reverting back to separate articles on each channel under the Hollywood Suite brand. Let me give my rationale for it: 1) Each channel is separately licensed and having an article for each channel falls in line with existing templates for other Canadian television channels, 2) each channel has their own unique histories that are lost in the mix of the umbrella Hollywood Suite article; for example the logos, the licencing, the changes in ownership, etc. are either lost or not as in-depth as they would be if they were under their own separate article, and what is existing in the current Hollywood Suite article on those matters is a bit confusing as they are intermingled, 3) there is not common ownership between each channel, as 2 of the channels are owned by a foreign company, and 4) the current article loses focus on what I think the Hollywood Suite article should really be about - the corporate entity who owns the 4 channels - similar to Bell Media or Corus Entertainment. Now, some other points to address what you mentioned in the Help page response - 1) although they are all branded similarly, I don't feel that warrants merging them - other similarly branded channels are not now or were ever merged prior into one article - i.e., Showcase, Showcase Action, and Showcase Diva were never merged into one article; MTV and MTV2 Canada articles are not merged into one article; the various Stingray-branded channels are not merged into one article; etc., and 2) I also don't feel as though the fact that they are often bundled together is reason to merge them since other similar groups of channels are not merged either - i.e., Stingray Vibe, Loud, Juicebox, and Retro are often bundled together as well and are not now or should they be merged, and neither are the countless ATN-branded channels who are often bundled together merged into one article.

My vision here is to create the 4 separate articles for each channel - essentially reverting them back to their state before they were redirected and improve upon them; while the Hollywood Suite article be an article about the corporate entity and summarize what exists in the article now about the branding and 4 channels. Removal of source citation

Just guessing here, but I think maybe you removed the source citation at Craftsman (tools) because it's a press release and the NYT article covers the same material. Is that right? Hey @ViperSnake151: It would be extremely useful if you could use edit summaries for your contributions. It's really hard for Wikipedia users to see what you're adding/changing if you don't use edit summaries, and it's not advised to edit articles without adding an edit summary. Just jumping in here for a comment. @ViperSnake151: The main reasons for adding an edit summary are to explain what changes were made and the reasoning behind them. An edit may have an excellent reason, but we can't read your mind to understand it. The edit summary is the perfect place to write what change was made and why. If a page's history contained no edit summaries, it would make it extremely difficult to find one particular edit. And in regards to this edit, "re-order" is a vague statement that provides no context as to why... You are welcome to make positive contributions to Wikipedia, in fact I applaud and appreciate good edits, but please note that you are not alone here and we need your help to properly communicate when editing articles. It's also why I quite frankly find it annoying you're not responding here either. Have you even read these comments? Please note that I am not on a personal mission against you. Android Police

Hi there! We both used to edit various Android version articles, especially Nougat and O. I have unfollowed them due to an abundance of technical information I understand next to nothing about, but I randomly visited the O article today and noticed this edit. You removed references and claimed that it was due to "too many refs", but as noted on the Nougat talk page, you clearly have a personal incentive not to use Android Police. Please be advised that the website follows the rules set forth by WP:RS, specifically the text "reliable, third-party, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy". Going back to your original arguments against the website on the Nougat talk page, you wrote two main points: "Do the writers have credentials?" and "frequently reports on rumours and speculation". As far as I can see and search, Wikipedia policy makes no mention that the writes need credentials, as we're not sourcing the writers but rather the articles. Android Police has a looong history of fact-checking and accuracy, and it always makes it clear when they are reporting speculation, and it's safe to say it's not the only website to report on rumors. After I stated my counter-arguments you never responded on that talk page. Please be advised that specifically removing Android Police as reference counts as editorial bias, which is not exactly a very praised perspective on Wikipedia. And another reason why I am sending you this message is to make you aware that you should finish a talk page discussion when confronted with counter-arguments, otherwise it could turn into an edit war, which is also not a very praised aspect on this site.
