References

Hi Mhygelle, Thanks again for your valued additions to the Malvern, Worcestershire, and related articles. hav you considered joining the Worcestershire project at WP:WORCS? By the way, Malvern is Good Article and as such , all the footnotes must be displayed in the same format. When adding sources, you'll find it even easier to do this if you checkout the advice at WP:CITE.--Kudpung (talk) 02:25, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

PS: Don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page if you need some help with this - adding references can sometimes be quite a challenge.--Kudpung (talk) 02:37, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

Hi Mhygelle. I would just like to express my personal thanks again for all the hard work you are doing quietly in the background on Malvern and Malvern area related articles. Have you considered joining the Worcestershire project? It wouldn't involve you in any extra work, but being a member of the project would simply establish you in our community as an active and much appreciated Wikipedian, and as perhaps someone we could occasionally turn to for advice. Warmest regards, and best wishes for 2011. --Kudpung (talk) 07:22, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Tagging for sources

Hi Mhygelle. Once again, thanks for all your support for the suite of Malvern and Malvern related articles. Tip: Instead of tagging with an inline [citation needed] tag as you did with this edit, you can look for sources and add them yourself, or, as in this particular case, if there is a link to a main article, you may find that the main article has the missing link. Happy editing! --Kudpung (talk) 12:46, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Hill fort articles

Hey, I saw that you have been making a number of articles on hill forts. In order to help the reader better identify the forts and know exactly where they are, I recommend adding Geocoordinates to the articles. You also might want to think about adding pictures of the forts. Luckily for you, we have pictures of every square mile of Britain thanks to a big donation from Geograph on Wikimedia Commons. If you need any help doing any of these tasks, feel free to ask here or on my talk page, Sadads (talk) 14:05, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 16:54, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi. You have done excellent work on this article and I have reassessed it as 'C' class. As you are by far the major contributor, you may wish to consider getting it rated as a Good Article. The article is very clean, and you wold need to check that all the referenced sources are up to date and working, but you would be assured of the support of members from the WP:WORCS. Let me know on my talk page what you think. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 10:18, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

I've run a check tool and the references all appear to be in order - no dead links. I've checked all the photos for correct licences, and added cats. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 10:29, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

St. Ann's Well, Malvern

Hi Mhygelle. I don't think you'll be able to use this ref:
ref;34 (Nigel kennedy) ^ "Celebs back fight for hillside cafe". Birmingham Post (Trinity Mirror). 6 May 2010.
as it stands, because both parts of it appear link back to articles about the newspapers themselves in Wikipedia. You'll need to locate the actual archives of the newspaper articles. Regards, --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 14:52, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Thank you again for watching over the Malvern articles and fixing refs. the referencing system that was introduced is not a standard one and is rather complex (I didn't introduce it), and although it keeps the body text free of refs, in the long run, creates more work. In the meantime, I think I'll have to abandon the thoughts of getting Malvern, Worcestershire to FA because I'm afraid the reviewers will expect the system to changed all over again. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:35, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi Kudpung, Thank you for your messages. I have just had a quick read through the FA criteria and as I understand it the article should have consistent citations. As the majority of citations on the Malvern, Worcestershire article use citation templates, would it be better to convert the remainder to the template format rather than change the whole system? Either way, I would be happy to assist with any changes. Mhygelle (talk) 11:30, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
This will help clear up one or two questions (I think): User talk:SandyGeorgia#Citing refs. Let me know what you think, and thanks enormously for your offer of help. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 17:01, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. I've started cleaning up the citations and moved several inline citation templates into the 'references' section. There appear to be approx 30 inconsistent print based sources, so it shouldn't take too long to convert them to the current system. I'll start tackling them as soon as I get a chance. Mhygelle (talk) 15:56, 18 December 2011 (UTC)
Yes, I been watching what you have been doing - thanks enormously again. There are some things I realise now that I could have done while I was in Malvern in August and September. I spent a lot of time reseraching in the library and took out some of the books again that I read before. Unfortunately, books by two of the best known and more recent authors (Weaver, and Garrard) on local history are being challenged by one editor as not being reliable sources, although consensus seems to lean towards accepting them. I've still not been able to locate the records for the Malvern Gazette since it began also publishing its online version. I think I'll write to Newsquest and ask where the microfiche are stored. Are you in or near Malvern? If you are and had time, I could tell you what to look for. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:02, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
Hi Kudpung, The Malvern Gazette microfiche are stored at Malvern Library. I'll be visiting the library in the New Year to do some research for another article and I'd be happy to try and find what you're looking for while I'm there (time permitting).Mhygelle (talk) 11:33, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

vandalism

Hi Mhygelle. Thanks for catching the nonsense that was posted at Worcestershire Beacon. If you come across this sort of thing, don't hesitate to place a warning on the user's talk page such as I have at User talk:212.139.255.13. Although the user might not react, it helps us track IPs that may be making irresponsible edits on other articles. Cheers, --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 04:49, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
