Wikipedia:Edit filter/False positives/Reports

Thank you for filing a report at Wikipedia:Edit filter/False positives/Reports. While I can't tell if there's a design flaw in the filter, or if you just happened to hit some odd combination of keywords, the warning to the IP was in order, so I left a level 1 warning myself. —C.Fred (talk) 11:43, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

I appear to have tripped the filter again for a vandalism warning, so that may not be the case. Much appreciated, either way. Lynch44 (talk) 11:45, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
I took a look at the filter: I was wondering if it was your username. It looks like it is your low edit count that's causing it to hit—and to use a fishing analogy, you're the unintentional bycatch, not who the filter is designed for. —C.Fred (talk) 11:49, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
Sounds about right. I should be auto confirmed in a couple of days, so it should clear up for me pretty soon. Lynch44 (talk) 11:51, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
If manual confirmation affected the first filter, I'd go ahead and flip that bit for you. I don't want to reveal too much about the filter, but I agree with your analysis. A couple days of good contributions, and the problem should resolve itself. —C.Fred (talk) 11:57, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

(One other aside. Your username helped you in a way here. I know some people with that last name, so your username caught my eye while scanning recent changes, and I decided to take a closer look at what was going on in the filter.) —C.Fred (talk) 12:02, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

Interesting

Hi Lynch, it’s really interesting that you only registered an account today and already know how to apply userboxes, efficiently patrol recent changes, report vandals, welcome users, and report false positive hits on edit filters. Really impressed! 2600:1004:B273:CDB6:E430:68F3:ECA6:5082 (talk) 00:50, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

Well, I have had a little experience... But thank you! I appreciate it! Lynch44 (talk) 00:52, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

Curiosity

I just wanted to ask you why 44 is for you "the most importat of them all"... if you want to tell... just to know. Kind regards 14 novembre (talk) 🇮🇹 20:47, 28 March 2024 (UTC)

44 is definitely my favorite of the numbers; my lucky number, if you will. Lynch44 (talk) 20:48, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
@Lynch44 OK, interesting. Thanks for your quick answer.

You're welcome! 14 novembre (talk) 🇮🇹 21:20, 28 March 2024 (UTC)

Question

How do you find all the vandalisms you revert? Do you use Recent changes? If so, what kind of filters do you apply? I filter "Unregistered" and "Newcomer" but I hardly find anything. Could you kindly give me some suggestions? 14 novembre (talk) 🇮🇹 21:47, 28 March 2024 (UTC)

I personally use the abuse filter to detect vandalism. If you wish, you could try that out instead, since it is pretty good at getting edits from vandals. Lynch44 (talk) 21:49, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
@Lynch44 Oh thanks. I'll give it a try and let you know. Kind regards 14 novembre (talk) 🇮🇹 21:50, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
@Lynch44 I've been using it for less then 1 hour and I think it actually works quite better than the sistem I previously used. I'll keep you updated if there's any problem or thing. Anyway thanks for your suggestion, happy editing! 14 novembre (talk) 🇮🇹 22:36, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
Glad to hear it. Cheers! Lynch44 (talk) 22:37, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
