Information icon Hello, I'm Drchriswilliams. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Colonoscopy, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Drchriswilliams (talk) 06:45, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning Dr. Williams. My reference was a personal communication to the Joint Commission on Hospitals and Clinics when the Minnesota Hospital Association threatened to withdraw my admitting privileges and threatened challenging my medical license. The Joint Commission approved doing procedures in a freestanding clinic removed from the hospital. My study was also reported by my nurse Sandy Cone at the ASGEA annual meeting in NYC in May 1983. The practice was soon picked up by otber gastroenterologists and soon put into effect with the creation of free standing endoscopy units, saving the healthcare system tens of millions of dollars. In my study I demonstrated I could reduce the cost of hospital charges by 60% and the money would go to physicians owning the units. No wonder the hospitals felt threatened. I was the first in North America to do this and, given that 80-90% of GI endoscopies are now performed in free standing clinic, I believe that is an important historical accomplishment. No one has disputed my work. Thank you for your attention.

Thank you for giving some further details on your talk page. I don't suppose that this is about whether your work has been disputed, rather that there are guidelines around information in wikipedia articles being appropriately sourced, and for articles on medical topics. You can read more about this at WP:MEDRS. Wikipedia also has guidance on conflicts of interest editing at WP:COI. Drchriswilliams (talk) 11:01, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have replaced my paragraph in Colonoscopy as I believe it meets Wikipedia standards. I would appreciate if you leave it in. Lawrence R. Kaplan, MD Kapalad (talk) 19:15, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Colonoscopy, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Drchriswilliams (talk) 15:17, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

That reference is as reliable as I can be. The study was also presented to the 1983 American Gastroenterology Convention May 83. Since this has never been contested, I would appreciate if you would leave it in. Documentation of the study is available at Aspen Medical Group. The study also won second place in a cost effectiveness contest, but I am searching for the reference. Kapalad (talk) 01:41, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
