Francis Pegahmagabow

Hello. In May you added a citation to a book from the "Webster's Quotations, Facts and Phrases" series published by Icon Group International to this article. Unfortunately, Icon Group International is not a reliable source - their books are computer-generated, with most of the text copied from Wikipedia (most entries have [WP] by them to indicate this, see e.g. [3]). I've only removed the reference, not the text it was referencing. I'm removing a lot of similar references as they are circular references; many other editors have also been duped by these sources. Despite giving an appearance of reliability, the name "Webster's" has been public domain since the late 19th century. Another publisher to be wary of as they reuse Wikipedia articles is Alphascript Publishing. Fences&Windows 02:38, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

Integrating in a Larger Context

Your maps ROCK. I too love maps, and would love to work with you, to say the least. The work you have done is pretty meticulous.

Check out the project I did in Google Earth, using the your images for the Non-Native Nations 1750-Present[4]. Please join in the discussion there. Essentially, as we are discussing in the forum above, I would like to help create an online community around a global history. A sort of Wikpedia for maps... It would be great to have the projects integrate as much as possible with Wikipedia.

I have a lot of ideas, but I thought I'd just introduce things first...

Heraclius

Enlarge the Christian view and put it before the Muslim view or else the latter will be removed continuously. The introduction is unbalanced otherwise and the Muslim view would not belong. There are many perceptions of Heraclius but the Muslim perception is not the foremost. Rochester Castle

Hi, I noticed your helpful addition of the inflation template to Rochester Castle. Would it be possible to change to using "UK" rather than "US" inflation? It might also be more common to use r=-3 to give round thousands. I'd have done it myself but the firewall gets in the way and blocks me. Wondering

Was wondering if you wouldn't mind re-evaluating this revert [5]. These edits are just one example of many made by some sort of unauthorized school project run out of the U of Penn, when they use cites at all it is 90% of the time to Snows book(Snow is on faculty there). I've found quite a few of them to be copyvios or have other issues. The three lines I removed in this example, I found one of the lines almost word for word in a power point based on Snows book. The other 2 lines directly contradicts information in the article, i.e. "D-shaped building that housed many" and "Although there were many occupants, only 50-60 burials found here", when in the article it says (and is cited) "Archaeologists' population estimates for the village have varied. During the early 20th century, the structures were viewed as small cities, with people residing in every room. From this perspective, Pueblo Bonito could have accommodated several thousand inhabitants at the village's peak. More recent analysis has lowered the resident total to less than 800, primarily due to the small number of usable hearths in the ruins. Another analysis, based on architecture, estimates the resident population to be even smaller, with only 12 households or about 70 people at its peak". Adding vague grammatically incorrect sentences about "many" doesn't really help the article. If you have access to Snows book (I have a pretty good library but don't have it nor does it seem to be on googlebooks) would you mind looking up the material and checking for copyvios and possibly flesh out their statements a little. The other problem with the edits with this school project is that they are 99% of the time out of context snippets that only vaguely even relate to the paragraphs they insert them into. Esemono: I am tempted to rollback your entry on the Manning talk page. We simply see the picture -- full sized -- without any caption or actual discussion. Also you haven't signed the entry, so as it stands the picture is posted simply for the sake of posting it without improving the article. (In fact, I think the image was used earlier but removed by SlimVirgin. Someone commented and she gave a rationale. If you check this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Growth_of_Habsburg_territories.jpg you can see that the northern border of the Ottoman Empire couldn't have been so north in 1812, because the border of the Austrian Empire had been souther that time...
