Satmar on Wikipedia[edit]

A Satmar on Wikipedia? I thought Satmar Chassidim were forbidden to use the internet. Daykart 21:03, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that sure as heck is quite strange. But then again, so is a Monarchist Libertarian. Maybe Multiple Personality Disorder is the answer. By the by Mr Daykart, the Talmudic Aramic tag in your profile "אנא אדבר ארמי תלמודי ברמתא גבוה", means "Please I shall talk learned Aramic at a hight" (being that the source word רמה which in modern Hebrew defines level or standard, does not do so in ancient Hebrew or Aramic; and the word "אנא" in this context means "please"; and the word "תלמוד" - Talmud - whilst describing the Talmud as we know it, did not mean the exact same to our ancestors in ancient Babylonia.) accompanied by a purely Hebrew word, i.e. גבוה (effectively saying "Please, I shall talk learned Aramic at a high hight). I am not very good with wiki-tech-lingo, so if you can, edit the tag to say whatever it wants to say in pure Aramic and with the correct tense. Drop me a line when the Aramic tags are updated. Thank you. Cockneyite 21:21, 21 December 2005.

  • You think a libertarian monarchist is strange? Try a queer ex-Lubavitcher atheist anarchist. I know about the template being messed up, I didn't create it. I'm good with wiki-tech-lingo, my problem is that I can't for the life of me figure out how to do Hebrew letters. That's the only reason I haven't been contributing to the Yiddish Wikipedia. Did I tell you I am homophobic? Cockneyite 02:01, 22 December 2005

Thanks for correcting me on the Satmar page. My apologies for the confusion; I was apparently misinformed and accidentally conflated Satmar and Sighet. (But Yoel was a younger son, right?)ShalomShlomo 21:39, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that he was. But he was elected as Rabbi for the orthodox Satmar community - something that had naught with the fact that he was son of the Rav of Sighet. He was elected by a mostly non-Hassidic community, most of which had misgivings about the "take-over" of the orthodox leadership by the Hassidic "Rebbishe" Rabbis. They elected him nevertheless, because the need for an uncompromising hard headed leader was apparent to them all. Cockneyite 02:01, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hebrew Alphabet[edit]

I have rewritten the articles on all the Hebrew letters here and before I replace the pages, your input would be appreciated. Feel free to comment on the talk page or edit the page directly. Thanks! Sputnikcccp

Need your help[edit]

Hello Cockneyite,

You most likely do not know me, but I've done some work on the "Low Germanic languages" article and I've come up with a sentence which accentuates the diffences between high and low Germanic languages more so than the previous on.Problem is, I can only give an English,High German, Dutch and Afrikaanse translation. According to your userbox you speak near fluent Yiddish. And according to that category, you're the one of the few registered wikipedian to be fluent in Yiddish overall.

Could you help me out and translate the following sentence?

  • Could you tell me what this sentence means? I don't understand low German languages you see.

Thanks in advance,

Talmudic Aramaic Template[edit]

Hi Cockneyite. Loved your comments on Template:User tmr , and so I thought you'd be the man to review Template:User tmr-1, which I created yesterday. I tried to say "speaks with 'little efficiency'" does that make sense? (might not even in English...) and should I have said ze'era instead of shefela? Thanks. See (the history of) article Sanhedrin regarding the attempt by some Zionists to establish a 'Sanhedrin'. There was until now no criticism at all in the article, it was badly POV. User:Historian2 wants me to come up with sources for an issur agaist going up on har habayis and against establishing a Sanhedrin. I remember reading somewhere in Vayoel Moshe about (not) re-establishing the Sanhedrin. However, I cannot find it, neither in the Yalkut Amarim nor in the big one. Do you happen to have any idea where I could find it? Need some sources for this. --Daniel575 23:05, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Israel bilateral relations[edit]

Hi, I could use some support in opposing merging Israel-Venezuela relations into (nothingness) Foreign policy of Hugo Chávez. Anything you can add to Israel-Venezuela relations, Israel-New Zealand relations, and Israel-Japan relations would be very appreciated. Respectfully, Republitarian 18:07, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Aquaria (band) copy & paste move[edit]

Hi Cockneyite, thanks for moving Aquaria to Aquaria (Band) so that Aquaria can redirect to Aquarium, that was a great idea! One nitpick though: you did this by copying the content of Aquaria to Aquaria (Band). In the future, it would be better if you did this by using the "Move" function to move Aquaria to Aquaria (Band) (and then edit Aquaria to redirect to Aquarium). This way, the edit history is preserved (see Wikipedia:How to rename (move) a page). I've already fixed this one, so I'm just telling you for future reference. Regards Quarl (talk) 2007-03-07 02:31Z
