Hey there. I made your announcement more "neutral." I don't think it would be right to preach to the editors and say what they shouldn't do. It they want jokes, fine. Go to the talk page and talk it out. That is what we're supposed to do after all. Jaredtalk  03:48, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Nevermind, I misunderstood your message. Sorry about that. Jaredtalk  03:52, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of JChat

An editor has nominated JChat, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/JChat and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Please Edit Micahbrwn's page!

Hey Andrew Hampe:
According to a note left by you, you've been assigned to (or you volunteered, whichever) to help with how my page looks. I don't want anything really flashy (like your page, for instance :D), but I would like to sort of make my User page look a bit more cool. Maybe instead of having my userboxes all down one side, they could be arranged next to each other in the middle or something. Also, I have attempted to make my userboxes at least follow a common theme when I order them within each category, but if you want to play around with that, please do feel free. And a subtle border or background (that's other than the basic white) would be okay too … so long as it's understated.

Also, I'd like the userpage to look relatively consistent -- when I access it through Firefox, it looks a bit different than when I access through another browser (like IE, for instance). I don't know if that's because of screen resolution differences between my computer at home and the one at work, but in any case, I'd like the layout to be relatively similar. If you suspect that it's a screen-res issue and not how the layout actually is, then no worries.

As for my Talk page, I'd prefer if the layout of that was left alone — but if you do fool around with the background of my main user page (adding a border or whatever), please do the same thing with the Talk page, for consistency's sake. Thanks! --Micahbrwn 18:36, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Just got your message on my Talk page. Sadly, I don't have MSN Messenger... but you can AIM me. My AIM username is the same as my Wikipedia username. --Micahbrwn 19:12, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
Sorry we weren't able to correspond one way or another tonight... please do go ahead and fool around with my page — I trust you. --Micahbrwn 23:53, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
It's been a couple days since you contacted me. Still haven't seen any changes to my page (nor have I heard from you on my Talk page). Let me know when to expect changes to my User page. --Micahbrwn 13:40, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Deletions

Ouch, sorry, as I was doing them I started to realize something was up, but couldn't figure it out, and then had to get back to work. I am on my way to work now, will fix it before 9AM EST. Thanks for letting me know. Dina 11:15, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Oh it looks like someone got to it. Please let me know if there's anything left for me to fix. Cheers. Dina 12:20, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Re: Ads

Hey, I created an ad. Where should I upload it to? --Andrew Hampe Talk 18:59, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

I put it at Image:Wikiproject User Help Ad.gif. --Andrew Hampe Talk 19:05, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
It's easier if it goes at Image:Qxz-ad39.gif, to preserve the numbering; that way, the template won't have to be rewritten. Re-upload it and tag the current one for deletion, so that your name is correctly listed as the uploader. Thanks – Gurch 19:25, 26 April 2007 (UTC)s
Image added. Make the image link to Wikipedia:WikiProject User Help. Thanks for responding so soon. --Andrew Hampe Talk 19:49, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Added it to the list of ads. --Andrew Hampe Talk 19:54, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
In fact three different places have to be updated; I'll do the other two in a moment. You seem to have dual-licensed the image; if it was entirely your own work, that would be fine, but since it's a derivative of two LGPL images, I think the whole thing is subject to the LGPL and hence can only be released under the same or a compatible license; CC-BY-SA 2.5 is (I think) incompatible with LGPL. I'm not an expert on these things, but it's generally best to be on the safe side; derivatives of images under multiple licenses have caused me a few problems already, as the various ads all end up under different licenses. Thanks for your help – Gurch 20:22, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

QXZ - Ads

Hello Andrew Hampe, I am User: HB4026 and I was wondering if you could create a qxz ad for WikiProject Australia (I asked Gurch but to no avail). If you would like to could you please ask me for more details? Thankyou Harrison-HB4026 11:28, 28 April 2007 (UTC)

Sure. I can get to it on Tuesday, as the software is at my school. But first, I need an idea of what I'll need to make. What do you want to communicate to the users who see this ad? How do you want to say it? Do you have a logo or a background image I could use? Do you want it to be flashy or minimal? Contact me when you have your ideas nailed down. --Andrew Hampe Talk 13:59, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Hi Andrew. Sorry I took so long to get back to you. I have worked out what I would like:
With the colours, I would like the bakground to be Green and Gold, which are the Australian Colours (Not Metallic Gold).
I would then like the Image:Flag of Australia.svg to fade in on the left and Image:City locator blank-MJC.png to fade in on the right. A couple of seconds later I want both images to fade out.
Then I would I would then like the text to read as follows (I would like the text transition to fade in like the Armenia project text):
    1. COO-EEE!!!
    2. Interested in projects related to Australia?
    3. Join WikiProject Australia
P.S. I am not sure what font colour would be good, but just use your judgement and it should be fine.
Thanks alot Harrison-HB4026 06:26, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Ok, I'll get to it on Tuesday (I hope). Btw, what does "COO-EEE" mean? --Andrew Hampe Talk 13:33, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks a heap. Considering that you do not know what COO-EEE is I gather that you are not Australian. You are ???. COO-EEE is an old Australian call that was made more famous in the World Wars because it was used as the Aussie equivalant of the 'We Want You!' call in the U.S.

Thanks Harrison-HB4026 00:50, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey Andrew, I left the following message on Harrison's talk age earlier and he asked me to let you know, so I'm just copying it over here FYi. Thanks for agreeing to help put with the ad, we all really appreciate it. :) Sarah 12:01, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey guys, I think, maybe we should use "Cooee!!" spelling, without the hyphen, because that's where the Wiki article is. People don't have to be Australian to join the project, they just need to have an interest in Australia and I think many non-Australians will wonder, like Andrew, what the heck it means. And since we have an article on it, we should probably follow that spelling. Just a thought, guys. :) Cheers, Sarah 12:01, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Hi Andrew. As someone standing on the periphery and having discussed this with Harrison, whilst watching his brilliant level of enthusiasm and follow up - can I just offer my support if you need anything (whilst Harrison is away for a couple of weeks moving house and Sarah (is trying hard) to have a break). Please just let me know at any time if I can assist and where I can I will. PS It was my idea initially to put Coo-eee in the advert but I agree totally with Sarah's altered view that it should be Cooee. (I wasn't clever enough to look to see if there was an article about the word). Cheers--VS talk 12:31, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
