PsyD Degree[edit]
The PsyD (Doctor of Psychology) degree prepares graduate students for a career as practicing psychologists. The big difference between the PsyD and the PhD is that the PsyD offers a great amount of training in therapeutic techniques and many supervised experiences; however, there isn't a lot of research experience. About 89 percent of clinical psychology students in research-oriented PhD programs receive both a tuition waiver and an assistantship or fellowship, while only 17 percent of students in university psychology department PsyD programs receive a similar package[1]. As a graduate from a PsyD program, the individual excels in practice-related knowledge and experience.
