Sway is the third studio album by Swedish singer Tove Styrke. It was released on 4 May 2018 through RCA and Sony Music.

Background[edit]

Tove Styrke released her second studio album, Kiddo, in 2015.

Development[edit]

Styrke described the writing and production process for Sway as a collaborative effort with a number of producers and songwriters. She worked with producers Elof Loelv, Joe Janiak, John Alexis, and Gustav Nyström, and credited them with helping to shape the sound of the album. Styrke also talked about the importance of being open to different ideas and perspectives when collaborating with others. She explained to The Fader that she is always looking for "the best idea in the room" and is willing to listen to others' opinions and suggestions. As for the writing process, she described it as a mixture of personal experiences and experimentation. She mentioned that some of the songs on Sway were inspired by her own life, while others were more abstract and focused on creating a certain mood or feeling. She also talked about the importance of being honest and vulnerable in her lyrics, saying that she wants her music to feel "real and human".

In terms of production, Styrke mentioned that she and her team spent a lot of time experimenting with different sounds and textures. She talked about the importance of finding the right balance between electronic and acoustic elements, and how she wanted the album to feel both polished and raw at the same time.

In an interview for The Fader, Styrke explained that the album's title represents her desire to make people move and feel something. She wanted the songs to have a "swaying" quality that would allow listeners to get lost in the music.
