User:Mike Cline/Our dysfunctional titling policy

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I sincerely believe our article titling policy and associated guidelines and processes are dysfunctional. As currently written, interpreted and used to guide our Requested Move and other title moving processes, the policies and guidelines are not beneficial to the encyclopedia. This essay is a series of case studies based on actual titling discussions aimed at illustrating the dysfunctional nature of WP:Title.

A general principal and basis for claims of dysfunction[edit]

Wikipedia has been and is being built and sustained by volunteers. Volunteer energy is the capital of the enterprise. Volunteer energy can be quantified in two ways: The total number of active editors and the number of total hours those volunteers devote to building the encyclopedia. The capital of any enterprise is precious, and if it is wasted, such waste adversely impacts the growth of the enterprise.
