Dr. Abdul Qayyum Rana is a neurologist who specializes in the field of Parkinson’s disease and Movement Disorders. He is certified by the Medical Council of Canada and is also a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He completed his neurology residency training from Temple University in Philadelphia and New Jersey Neurosciences Institute, USA. Dr. Rana undertook a clinical fellowship at the University of Ottawa where he did further training in the field of Parkinson’s disease and Movement Disorders. He is also the founder and director of the Parkinson Clinic of Eastern Toronto and Movement Disorders Center, founder of the World Parkinson's Education Program, and is fluent in six languages (English, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Saraiki and Arabic).

Clinical Care Activities[edit]

Dr. Rana promotes Parkinson’s disease awareness amongst the general public and health care professionals. He has spoken at numerous national and international seminars and conferences on Parkinson’s disease and is involved in many organizations, such as the Movement Disorders Society, Canadian Neurological Sciences Federation, and the Ontario Medical Association to name a few.

Educational Programs[edit]

Dr. Rana’s is involved in enhancing the awareness of Parkinson's disease and movement disorders. In order to do so, he has developed many educational programs to assist Parkinson’s disease patients and medical professionals. To date, he has created the following series of informational guides to achieve this goal:

  • A Comprehensive Approach to Parkinson’s: An educational lecture series for medical and healthcare professionals.
  • Multilingual Parkinson’s Education Program: An educational guide for patients, families, and caregivers of various ethnic backgrounds.
  • Frequently Asked Questions About Parkinson’s disease: Educational literature for patients with Parkinson’s disease, translated in many different languages.
