Callie B. Carroll[edit]

Professional & Academic Background[edit]

I am web developer and graduate student in Human-Computer Interaction at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. My interests and broad research areas are Usability and Accessibility, but in particular I work on:

  • the evaluation and development of accessible web applications, and
  • the design of mobile devices (cell phones) for use by persons with visual impairments.

Right now I hold a graduate assistanceship with CATEA (Center for Assistive Technology and Environmental Access), and am working on a MediaWiki project for AssistiveTech.net.

Other Interests[edit]

I spend a lot of time thinking about amphibian conservation efforts, have been raising poison frogs for almost ten years, and still run the "old-fashioned" mailing list called Frognet.

I have also been known to play the mandolin very poorly, do origami very well, and go Cajun dancing, on occasion. I can speak Japanese if I really need to, or feel like embarrassing myself.

Contact Information[edit]

I can be be contacted via information online at hylaweb.com, or as hyla, on #mediawiki via irc://irc.freenode.net.
