Brinkman-Rice transition[edit]

Our coverage of various metal-insulator transition is pretty messy. Lots of duplication across Mott insulator and Mott transition and the list of different transition models was a bit random. I'm no expert in this space, so asked for peer review below. This does seem important enough to be noted in both Rice and Brinkman's bios (though Brinkman spent more of his career in administration).

Some of the detail (and discussion of what sources to include) can go to a relevant section of metal-insulator transition, I left it here for speed. – SJ + 12:38, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Superconductivity?[edit]

I removed the claims added to the article that the BR transition is related to superconductivity and Cooper pairs. That is claimed (by the editor who added those claims, in a paper he published in Nature, and his colleagues) in a few papers since 2002, but not described in a way that makes sense to many other physicists.[1] The author in question is one of the authors of the LK-99 paper, so this work is referenced there. Also worth articulating somehow in peer review, to the extent that LK-99 is more than a passing fad. – SJ + 15:16, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
