phth, chth[edit]

Not really tetragraphs, are these? Especially when realized as /kθ/ and /fθ/. --Trɔpʏliʊmblah 15:19, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

tion[edit]

Back 45 years ago, my first grade teach wrote the letters "tion" on the board and talked about the special way those four letters are pronounced. If that's not a tetragraph I don't know what is.  Randall Bart   Talk  22:13, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's an irregular context-dependent spelling, but it writes a sequence of three sounds [ʃən] (or [tʃən] after "s")... AnonMoos (talk) 00:58, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ough[edit]

What about ough? Isn't that a tetragraph? (although it can be pronounced in so many different ways...) 82.3.43.103 (talk) 23:06, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, it's just a common sequence of ou + gh. — kwami (talk) 07:57, 23 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
