Classifying procedures[edit]

The section § Other includes a number of non-laser, minimally invasive surgical treatments (MISTs). Their mention belongs in the subsection § Non-laser treatments. However, moving them there will show that the present division between laser and non-laser treatments is far from even; the use of lasers being just one modality for achieving tissue ablation. This is presently a fast-moving field, with variant new techniques being invented every few months on average.

Accordingly, I suggest a better classification of minimally invasive surgical treatments (MISTs) for BPH would be:

  1. Laser ablation
    1. VLAP
    2. PVP
    3. HoLAP
    4. HoLEP
  2. Non-laser ablation
    1. TUMT
    2. TUNA
    3. Aquablation
    4. WVTT
    5. HIFU
  3. Urolift

Cochrane edits[edit]

To the invasive treatment section, I added information from a Cochrane review comparing monopolar and bipolar transurethral resection of the prostate.--Gsom12812 (talk) 15:21, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Improved the information on prostatic urethral lift by citing information from a Cochrane review --Gsom12812 (talk) 23:29, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
