Categorization[edit]

@Good Olfactory: Regarding your recent reversion, I'm wondering how you reconcile that position with WP:SUBCAT which provides that articles should not belong to both a category and its parent unless the former is a non-diffusing category? Furthermore, you suggest that the article should be in Category:Sunday School (LDS Church) because Mormonism is the only denomination-specific section of the article. Surely the topic of the article should determine its categorization, not its current content when the article is as-yet incomplete (in this case, being a stub), no? 207.161.217.209 (talk) 17:06, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you really don't want the article in Category:Sunday School (LDS Church), you can remove it. However, as I think the article points out, at least implicitly, the meaning of the term is slightly different in Mormonism as compared to Christianity as a whole. In Christianity as a whole, it's more of a pejorative, whereas in Mormonism, it's seen as a trite but accurate reflection of reality. Given that, I think categorization in both could be appropriate, since it means something in Mormonism that is somewhat different than what it means in broader Christianity. I don't think it is likely that the article will develop further into multiple denomination-specific sub-sections. Perhaps a cleaner solution would be to categorize a redirect to the Mormonism section in the LDS category. At the end of the day, it's not that big of a deal to me one way or the other. @Good Olfactory: Categorizing a redirect definitely makes sense to me. I'm happy to submit it to AFC, but if you're willing to create it, that would probably be easiest. Let me know. Cheers, 207.161.217.209 (talk) 00:17, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy with that solution, and I can implement it. Thanks. Good Ol’factory (talk) 00:24, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
