Positive and negative[edit]

First of all, let me clarify that I'm not a "mod", whatever a "mod" is supposed to be (I thought a mod was a hack to modify the appearence of a videogame, but clearly that's not the thing here). I have seen an edit saying "A mod (Cambalachero) agreed on keeping both the "positive" and "negative" stereotypes", and although I would agree with that idea, I don't see any such discussion here or in the talk pages of the users involved. And, besides, my opinion has no special weight in comparison with the opinions of other users, as that edit seems to suggest.

As I said, I agree that there should be both a section with the positive and the negative stereotypes. However, there's currently a problem: the "positive" section does not cite sources, and the other does, so I can see why someone may want to delete it. It may be better to keep it, but only if the content can be properly referenced as well. And, if possible, by non-Argentine sources, to prevent any suspicions about the neutrality of the source Cambalachero (talk) 15:08, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This "positive" and "negative" division is WP:OR, it does not appear in the sources. It was changed without consensus some years ago and I have been reverting it back. Stereotypes are often negative (see for example Blonde stereotype, Stereotypes of Jews). There is no reason to try to establish a balance between negative and positive. Said this, I can clearly see how an Argentine nationalist can be hurt by these stereotypes, but Wikipedia is not here to accommodate for the nationalist sensibilities of anybody. Sources[edit]

Fair enough, I agree. I have provided a source. It's from an Argentinian newspaper (Clarin), but the article interviews people from other countries (one peruvian, one american and five europeans), so I guess that's OK.

I'd also like to notice that from the 4 "sources" provided on the negative area, only one of them has a working link (and some of the other sources doesn't even have a link). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.179.193.201 (talk) 22:48, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

General observations[edit]

The article opens with a tautology: "Stereotypes of Argentines are generalizations or stereotypes about Argentines" -- suggest skipping that.  ;-)

Good point. Will fix it. Dentren | Talk 10:49, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
