re : The character was invented by a 17th century Italian actor, Tiberio Fiorelli.

A 16th century drawing by Leonardo da Vinci "A Grotesque Head" is believed by some to be the portrait of Scaramuccia, a Gypsy chieftain - although there is no proof the it was indeed the subject of the drawing it would suggest that Scaramuccia was well-known at least as far back as the 16th century 77.194.112.91 20:54, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Scaramuccia → Scaramouche — While the stock character is originally known as "Scaramuccia" in Italian, in English the character is primarily known as "Scaramouche" by way of French. Moreover, the character is clearly the primary usage of the term "Scaramouche"; the novel is about a person who portrays the Scaramouche character. Character section - How does Coviello relate?[edit]

The character section suddenly starts talking about Rosa & Coviello - no links - no reference. Who are they? What do either have to do with Scaramouche? What does "like Scaramouche" mean in context? Very sloppy work!
