How can Isthmus Department be a successor?[edit]

In the Isthmus Department article, it states that it was established in 1824 and then dissolved in 1855. So, how can it be a successor when it ended when the Panama State was made? Wouldn't it instead be a predecessor? SonOfYoutubers (talk) 19:32, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I just realized that it claims it to be a predecessor, but I guess the article were merged at some point and they both lead to the same article, but that still presents the issue of how it was claimed to be a successor. SonOfYoutubers (talk) 19:35, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I also just stumbled upon this; the problem is, that Isthmus Department was the predecessor, then it became Panama State, which then turned into Panama Department, but that link is redirected over to Isthmus department (because it's a synonym). Instead, Panama Department should be its own page and it's next successor should be Panama. I don't know who to tag or how to solve this, but until it's done, this will likely be stuck in a limbo state of endless repetition. KormiSK (talk) 11:28, 15 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article must be separated, since the department of 1886-1903 constituted a different centralist administration. NicolásF2 (talk) 17:33, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, it is also omitted here that during part of the Republic of New Granada, Panama was divided between provinces and the so-called "National Territories". NicolásF2 (talk) 17:37, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
