Article focus[edit]

I was struck that this article was so focused on lines rather than on rolling stock - oriented around the "Hiawatha Line" and "Northstar Line" instead of around "light rail vehicles" and "locomotives". In editing the light rail section to discuss the procurement of a second series of light rail vehicles, I changed the tone of the light rail section and reorganized it around the Type I and Type II vehicles, but honestly the article still needs a lot of work to properly orient it around the vehicles and not the lines. There are already passable articles on the lines, this should focus on the vehicles. Especially given that in operations there is likely to be a blurring of the connection between a specific LRV and the line it serves (even more so because the early cars delivered for the Central Corridor project are going to be used on the Hiawatha Line until the Central Corridor line opens), it seems important to discuss the types outside the context of the lines except inasmuch as they are ordered in connection with a specific project. I may work some more on this when I have time.Talindsay (talk) 20:45, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In the same vein, I see no reason to have a non-exhaustive list of "Possible Future Rail Projects" on this page - I could see a section on future procurement needs that could discuss the volume of potential future orders for various lines, but even that seems dubious. The current list is worthless since it provides no actual information and is incomplete at that.Talindsay (talk) 20:48, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
