K-Town outside North Lawndale?[edit]

The published sources I've found all identify the phrase "K-Town" as referring specifically to a neighborhood in North Lawndale.

The streets involved are, however, long and run through other neighborhoods.

Recently, non-logged-in users have been making changes to articles mentioning K-Town with edit comments about the streets running through other neighborhoods. In one case, the entire K-Town section was deleted from the North Lawndale article.

It's not at all clear to me what these users are trying to say.

If they have personal knowledge that there are neighborhoods outside of North Lawndale that have their areas known as "K-Town," that's interesting and should go somewhere; it does, however, need to be referenced to a published source.

If, on the other hand, they are simply noting that the "K" streets are not confined to North Lawndale, that's irrelevant, because the question is not what areas could logically be called "K-Town," the question is which areas are known as "K-Town." Dpbsmith (talk) 13:08, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Citation needed ?[edit]

This article contains piles of "citation needed" tags. What kind of citation is needed here, and how should it be presented ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by wefa (talkcontribs)

See WP:V and WP:CITE, the verifiability and citation policies, for details. What's needed is a reference to a published source for the fact. For example, for the entry
what's needed is a reference to a passage in something like a book, a newspaper, or an official website (not a web forum or blog) that says Kenosha is often called K-Town.
The general idea is that everything in Wikipedia must be traceable to a published source meeting the reliable source guidelines. You may personally know that people call Kenosha "K-Town," but you can't put it into WIkipedia on your own authority; you need to find a verifiable source. Disambiguation pages should not have references or external links, it just needs to meet MOS:DABMENTION. See WP:DDD, MOS:DAB, WP:DISAMBIGUATION etc. Boleyn (talk) 17:49, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rem per MOS:DABMENTION - please add back in if this changes[edit]
