Jonathon Ng or Lei Ming?[edit]

EDEN's name is disputed; I personally thought that his last name was Ng, but I couldn't find any credible secondary sources with Ng. However, there is one for Lei Ming: Lei Ming

Anyone find any sources for Ng? Blue Adventure (talk) 20:22, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ok according to EDEN's Twitter post & this edit: Ng, his last name is Ng. I am not sure what Wikipedia policies are about this, but it's clear that EDEN himself doesn't use Lei Ming as his last name. Blue Adventure (talk) 00:19, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

His personal Facebook does officially confirm that Ng is his last name - https://www.facebook.com/jonny.ng.31?fref=ts — Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.236.160.67 (talk) 10:22, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like the dispute is settled! I couldn't access the Facebook link, but it looks like Ng will be official. Blue Adventure (talk) 04:25, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just a quick note on the name, i found another link but of the same news organisation talking about the release of the music video Sex of his upcoming album. here is the link (http://www.irishtimes.com/culture/music/songs-of-the-week-two-door-cinema-club-eden-and-more-1.2687328) which uses Jonathon Lei Ming. By Wikipedia guildlines we must input info based on citations or links to the said article. Both Ng and Lei Ming is used but as it is the Irish times, I guess they would know more better being a local artist in Ireland. Sufyanxtreme (talk) 15:31, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sufyanxtreme, I respectfully disagree; EDEN himself has said that his last name is Ng. Twitter Also, in MOS:ID:

When there is a discrepancy between the term most commonly used by reliable sources for a person or group and the term that person or group uses for themselves, use the term that is most commonly used by reliable sources; if it isn't clear which is most used, use the term that the person or group uses.

However, there is only one source using Lei Ming. The artist should be respected as well as the guidelines. Blue Adventure (talk) 22:42, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OK duly noted Sufyanxtreme (talk) 22:54, 16 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Perspective from a Chinese person here: Lei Ming sounds like a Chinese given name. It's definitely not a surname. Chinese + English names typically get formatted as [English given name] [Chinese given name] [Surname] (when treated as a middle name) or [English given name] [Surname] [Chinese given name]. Therefore I'd guess that the Irish Times just isn't familiar with Chinese names and got confused. Blue Edits (talk) 17:00, 24 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That makes sense, actually. I suppose they confused the Chinese given name with his last name. Blue Adventure (talk) 16:58, 29 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

information on the page[edit]

As I properly researched on Eden (Jonothon Ng/Lei Ming) he used to study and live in Hong Kong as i found an older twitter handle which he used to use and which clearly states that he used to study in Hong Kong. If anyone brings sufficient information that he didn't study or live in Hong Kong then i would suggest anyone to remove the info i added. By the way it was just an addition of two words in the early years section of the page. And i cannot stress the fact that citations are needed for any information added to the page. Sufyanxtreme (talk) 19:08, 21 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Are there links to said research? We have to be careful because of WP:OR. Recently he did a live Q&A: Facebook where at 11:45, he states that he was born in Ireland. There isn't any indication of whether he was raised in HK or not. Blue Adventure (talk) 17:00, 23 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup tag?[edit]

Hey guys, TPM here. I've added a cleanup tag for the article, but I'm pretty sure there's a tag for naming what's wrong, like {{issues}}. Is that the only one that there is, or is there one for just one issue?

Thanks,

Never mind, I found {{Unreferenced Section}}.

Citation sources and speculative articles[edit]

Genius cannot be considered as official sources/citations for releases and reddit threads can only be added if it is from the musician itself. Speculative articles (like album names etc) without proper sources must not be added to wikipedia as it will be violating its rules and regulations.

vertigo[edit]

Well people are obviously excited about the new album, 'vertigo' but wiki editors and rogue editors who edit through their mobile phone, please do not put information without citations. It is important for links and official news outlets. (facebook and twitter post by eden can be counted)

sufyanxtreme (talk) 17:19, 08 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This material was moved to Draft:Vertigo (Eden album), per the AfD: WP:Articles for deletion/Vertigo (Eden album). It should not be posted as a live Wikipedia article until the full album is released and also has a sufficient number of significant reviews in reliable independent sources. Editors may work on Draft:Vertigo (Eden album) when that happens, to bring it up to snuff, but it should not be posted live on Wikipedia without an independent review. Accidental Extra Contribution[edit]

I made a major change right before a miner change. This was an accident. I tried to write a summary, but I thought the edit box was multiline and pressed enter. This means I submitted my edit without a summary, and now it probably shows up as a major change when it was supposed to be a minor change. I just corrected a few grammar and punctuation-related issues, so no major changes were made. I have since made a minor edit to add a summary, but I'm not sure if my major edit can be rolled back. Sorry about the confusion.
