Formation[edit]

Could someone knowledgable add some description and explanation of the interesting arrangement of vehicles used - particularly regarding the short power car? On a related point, when counting the quantity of cars used in each formation, should the power car be included? Though it does not carry passengers, is it a 'car', nevertheless?
