Merger proposal[edit]

I propose to merge 2021 United States capitol protests into 2021 United States state capitol protests. They are about the same topic. Brinerat (talk) 14:52, 17 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support merger. The 2021 United States capitol protests page is strangely titled and much of its content seem to violate WP:CRYSTAL.
  • Merge into other article Comment - the 2021 United States capitol protests article and talk page together have more revisions, more information/sources gathered, talk page content, and were interlinked into other articles first, it remains easiest found. Merge the single-editor project into the larger one. ɱ (talk) 16:05, 17 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I, too, think the content in 2021 United States state capitol protests could more easily be folded into 2021 United States capitol protests as a background section. I should also note ongoing move discussion at Talk:2021 United States capitol protests -- seems to be more momentum on this page. Hoping we can resolve this sooner than later. ---Another Believer (Talk) 16:14, 17 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support merger. Agree that the 2021 United States capitol protests page is incorrectly titled because state capitols are different from the U.S. capitol, and this article is about the threats posed to state capitols. Some parts also appear to violate WP:CRYSTAL. It is also incomplete in that it only appears to reference a few states and their preparations for violence. Nirvanaoreilly (talk) 16:39, 17 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The threats are to all 50 U.S. states in addition to the national Capitol, so this article incorrectly focuses on only a portion of the planned event. Your infobox states that as well, contrary to the focus of the rest of your article. ɱ (talk) 16:42, 17 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It appears an editor added that to the article’s infobox in the past few minutes, but the original focus of this article was the threat posed to state capitols per the FBI. If you believe it would be more appropriate for a single article to cover both the state capitol and U.S. capitol violence, I would now support merging 2021 United States state capitol protests into 2021 United States capitol protests.
