Extended confirmed

(add requestview requests)

User:Hammersoft

I realize this is an unusual request, but I would like to have my extendedconfirmed rights removed. I know they are automatically assigned, but the right was given to me without my request or permission. I prefer to edit without any special rights of any kind. In fact, I would prefer to have autoconfirmed removed as well, but I don't know that is possible. Thanks, Hammersoft (talk) 15:20, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Hammersoft: Extended confirmed nor autoconfirmed are "special rights", just a classification based on your tenure that allows you to edit certain articles. Lacking extended confirmed will only block you from a handful of articles, but without autoconfirmed you'll not only be unable to edit many of the pages you edit now, but you won't be able to create new articles at all, move pages, and you'll have to regularly enter CAPTCHAs. Also access to Twinkle will be removed. Surely you do not want that! If you do, you should simply log out. At any rate, I'm not sure removing either types of classifications would be permanent (and not get auto-assigned again), but perhaps someone will correct me MusikAnimal talk 15:27, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Non-confirmed editors can create articles. Maybe you're having wishful thinking about WP:ACTRIAL. BethNaught (talk) 15:32, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ha, oops, as many G3's as I delete I should know any registered user can create articles. Not wishful thinking! ACTRIAL maybe wouldn't be so bad though... MusikAnimal talk 15:42, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I guess we know for sure we can't remove autoconfirmed, but we at least have the option to remove extended confirmed, just not sure it will stay that way. Please confirm you really want this, as it does not give a special "status", add any extra buttons, or change the way you edit. It merely allows you to edit Category:Wikipedia pages under 30-500 editing restriction MusikAnimal talk 15:29, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
information Administrator note There is no technical means to remove autoconfirmed because it is not a "group" but a special flag. — xaosflux Talk 15:32, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ahem. Edit filters. BethNaught (talk) 15:33, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
BethNaught While that action is available on the EF, I'm pretty sure we have it disabled in the config to actually run - would have to double check. — xaosflux Talk 16:14, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • I understand about autoconfirmed. I understand the consequences of having extendedconfirmed removed, that I will apparently not be able to edit articles in Category:Wikipedia pages under 30-500 editing restriction. I strongly disagree with the 30/500 editing restriction as anathema to what Wikipedia is...or at least was. I hereby confirm I want my extendedconfirmed right removed. If it's automatically reinstated by some process, so be it. I'll revisit the issue elsewhere in that case. --Hammersoft (talk) 15:34, 13 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
