Yeshiva Orchos Torah is a yeshiva gedolah in Bnei Brak founded by Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib Steinman in 1998. In the second decade of the 21st century, the yeshiva opened four branches and two yeshivas for young people. The yeshiva also includes kollels for working men. Around 2,000 boys and 1,300 working men learn in all their institutions.

Leadership[edit]

In Sivan 5558 (1998), the yeshiva was founded by Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib Steinman, one of the leaders of the Litvishe community. At the head of the yeshiva, Rabbi Steinman appointed two of his students, graduates of the Ponevezh Yeshiva, Rabbis Itamar Garbuz, and Baruch Dov Diskin, head of the "Nachlat Moshe." Rabbi Chizkiyahu Mishkovski was appointed spiritual director. Rabbi Steinman himself sometimes came to the yeshiva and gave lessons there. When the students increased, two additional yeshiva leaders were appointed: Rabbis Yechiel Kellerman and Zvi Yehuda Edelstein (son of Rabbi Gershon Edelstein). As is done in the Ponevezh Yeshiva, every three months the four heads of the yeshiva switch off teaching lessons for the three lower grades and the fourth delivers a general lesson.

After Rabbi Steinman's death, according to his will, his son, Rabbi Sharaga Noach, head of the youth yeshiva "Kehilas Ya'akov" in Bnei Brak, was appointed president of the yeshiva. Rabbi Gershon Edelstein was also involved in yeshiva decisions.

The Yeshiva[edit]

About 600 boys and about 50 working men study at the yeshiva. Each class has about 100 students. According to Rabbi Steinman's instruction, and not as usual, the classes were not divided into years to avoid competition. Towards the year 2018 the rav ordered to split Shiur Alef due to the large number of students, and Rabbi Aharon Ostern, son-in-law of rabbi Nissim Karlitz and rabbi of Yeshiva Rina Shel Torah in Carmiel, was appointed Rosh Mesivta. In the yeshiva there is a weekly class by Rabbi Diskin on the Parsha of the week and a class by Rabbi Garboz on Seder Taharot.

In the early years, the Yeshiva was housed in a temporary building on Rabbi Kahaneman Street (Hashomer) in Bnei Brak, and later moved to the complex where the "Yardeni" locksmith factory used to be located on King Shlomo Street. Several years ago, a new building was built nearby that serves as a dorm for the yeshiva students. In Tammuz 5572, the construction of a permanent building for yeshiva began on Rabbi Kahaneman Street, in front of the dorm building, however, the construction process was halted at the end of 2013 following a petition submitted by a representative of the Bnei Torah faction in the Bnei Brak municipality to the district committee for planning and construction. During the shiva for the passing of Rabbi Steinman at the end of 2017, a eulogy ceremony was held in the presence of prominent rabbis and the laying of the cornerstone for the yeshiva complex, which is planned to also include its new building, named "Kiryas Eilas HaShachar", after Rabbi Steinman's book.
