Rebekka or Amare Aili Kuukka (born 10 September 1996) is a Finnish rapper, actress, and DJ.

Early life[edit]

Kuukka was born in the Ruoholahti quarter of Helsinki to Finnish mother, the late artist Raakel Kuukka (1955–2022), and a Ghanaian father. Her parents divorced when she was five. Born Rebekka, Kuukka later changed her name to Amare.[1]

Career[edit]

Kuukka began her career as a DJ and backing vocalist for other rappers. In 2017, American artist Princess Nokia complimented Kuukka's voice and encouraged her to pursue a career as a solo artist.[1] She subsequently self-released her debut single "Broflake".[2]

She played at Flow Festival. She joined the feminist rap collective D.R.E.A.M.G.I.R.L.S.

2019 debut EP Elovena, notable for its visual element. Kuukka was nominated for Newcomer of the Year at the Emma Gaala.

made her feature film debut in the 2022 films Girl Picture and Heartbeast. returned to Flow Festival in 2022.[4]

In 2023, Kuukka appeared on the MTV3 dance competition Tanssii tähtien kanssa, the Finnish version of Strictly Come Dancing. She also played at Blockfest[5] and the World Village Festival.[6]

Artistry and public image[edit]

Kuukka has often been considered a political rapper, as she brings up issues such as racism and misogyny in her music. However, in 2023, she expressed her fatigue over it and stated that it had affected her mental health.[1] She is an Empathy Movement ambassador.[7]
