Too Lost is an American digital music distribution company and music technology company launched in 2020 by Gregory Hirschhorn and Alex Silverstein, in New York, NY. Too Lost delivers, monetizes and protects music on behalf of independent artists and record labels on stores and services such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, TikTok, Pandora and YouTube.
History and background[edit]
Too Lost was founded in early 2020 by Gregory Hirschhorn and Alex Silverstein. In 2021, Too Lost joined the MERLIN Network to secure competitive deal terms from major music stores and services.[1]
In 2022, Too Lost announced a funding round of $5.3M USD led by the music financing firm Sound Royalties. Too Lost had over 75,000 active artists and record labels on its platform at the time of the funding round.[2]
Too Lost partnered with beatBread in August 2022 to provide Too Lost users with flexible royalty advance funding options.[3]
In January 2023, Too Lost partnered with Tencent-funded Pex[4] to launch Usage Discovery, a data tool used for tracking music usage and consumption on the web and social media.[5]
In February 2023, Too Lost announced an expansion to Los Angeles. Too Lost opened an office in the Taft Building in Hollywood, and began hiring new executives. [6]
Later in February 2023, Too Lost announced a partnership with payment provider Nerve, becoming the first music distribution company to integrate direct payouts with Nerve.[7]
In May 2023, Too Lost struck a deal with SoundCloud on Fan-Powered Royalties.[8] Later that month, rapper Lil Mabu debuted in the Billboard Hot 100 with "Mathematical Disrespect" which was released via Too Lost. [9]
In June 2023, Too Lost launched new identity verification protocols in order to combat fraud in the music industry.[10]
In August 2023, Too Lost announced new hires and its expansion of its A&R and Artist Services divisions. By the end of August 2023, Too Lost had around 70 full time employees.[11] That month Too Lost also announced its new Copyright Registration product[12] and stated that over 250,000 artists and record labels had used Too Lost for music distribution since the company's inception.[13]
In October 2023, Billboard had revealed that Too Lost manages Kanye West's YouTube channel and that Kanye West may release his album "Vultures" independently with Too Lost.[14]

In 2024, Too Lost launched a publishing administration service in partnership with BMG.[15]
