Antonius Janu Haryono, S.Sn., M.Sn was born on January 20, 1988, in Bantul. He spent his childhood in a small village south of Yogyakarta, an environment far removed from the hustle and bustle of the film world. This caused him to have little memory or experience related to film during his childhood. However, everything changed in 2006 when he accidentally watched short films screened at the first Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF). This experience opened his eyes to the world of film and sparked a deep interest within him.

A strong desire to explore the world of filmmaking led him to continue his studies at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, choosing the Film & Television Study Program. At ISI Yogyakarta, Antonius found a space to channel his creativity and hone his skills in directing and film production. Throughout his college years, he frequently received assignments to create various film projects. These projects provided him with opportunities to experiment and learn from each filmmaking process. The pinnacle of his academic journey was the creation of his first feature-length film, titled "Selibat", which he completed as his final project. This film not only symbolized his hard work and dedication during his studies but also marked the beginning of his career as a professional filmmaker.

After completing his undergraduate education, Antonius continued his studies in the Graduate Program at ISI Yogyakarta, concentrating on Videography. During his master's studies, Antonius focused not only on the theory and techniques of videography but also produced many art videos that explored various concepts and visual styles. His works during this period reflect a deep understanding and continually developing technical skills, making him an increasingly mature artist in his field.

In 2017, Antonius began his academic career as a teaching staff member at Jogja Film Academy[1]. Here, he shared his knowledge and experiences with students, inspiring a new generation of filmmakers. Two years later, in 2019, he was accepted as a lecturer in the Film and Television Study Program at ISI Yogyakarta[2], a position he holds to this day. His dual role as a filmmaker and lecturer requires him to stay active in research and knowledge development. Antonius focuses not only on film production but also engages in academic research that enriches the field of filmmaking.

One of his primary research focuses is the development of Sinema Kethoprak, a film style approach that evolves from the traditional art of Kethoprak[3]. Through this research, Antonius aims to elevate and develop local cultural elements within the context of modern filmmaking. His research contributes to a broader understanding of Sinema Kethoprak and helps preserve and promote Indonesia's cultural heritage. Thus, Antonius plays a crucial role in bridging tradition and innovation, ensuring that traditional cultural elements remain relevant and appreciated in the contemporary film world.
