Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=reason for move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Technical requests[edit]

Uncontroversial technical requests[edit]

It's nearly impossible to find anything referring to this company as "Orange Music Electronic Company." The official website uses "Orange Amps" - for example, the history section was apparently written by the company founder, who signs off, "Founder, CEO of Orange Amps." I would go with what he says. Requests to revert undiscussed moves[edit]

Contested technical requests[edit]

@Martinevans123: There was consensus for the current title at Talk:Japan Airlines#Requested_move_16_October_2021. --Ahecht (TALK

You realise that the company is called Japan Airlines? Martinevans123 (talk) 18:20, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Martinevans123 It was "Japan Air Lines" when the incident took place in 1985. The name was changed later. --Ahecht (TALK

Oh, I see. That article is not very clear on that point. It says simply: "The original Japan Airlines Co. was established on 1 August 1951." The only place where "Japan Air Lines" appears (unsourced) is in the infobox? Martinevans123 (talk) 18:29, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that it's unclear exactly when the change took place, but the new livery they started using in 1989 was the first to use "Airlines": https://www.norebbo.com/japan-airlines-livery/. Certainly, if you look at the original accident investigation report for JAL 123, it uses "Air Lines". --Ahecht (TALK

Thanks for clarifying. I'd expect a date as a minimum in Japan Airlines. Obviously needs some attention. Martinevans123 (talk) 18:38, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator needed[edit]

The page at the current title was the result of a WP:CUTPASTE move from the lowercase title to the uppercase one. An administrator is needed to do a WP:HISTMERGE. --Ahecht (TALK
