To contact bureaucrats to alert them of an urgent issue, please post below.
For sensitive matters, you may contact an individual bureaucrat directly by e-mail.
You may use this tool to locate recently active bureaucrats.

The Bureaucrats' noticeboard is a place where items related to the Bureaucrats can be discussed and coordinated. Any user is welcome to leave a message or join the discussion here. Please start a new section for each topic.

This is not a forum for grievances. It is a specific noticeboard addressing Bureaucrat-related issues. If you want to know more about an action by a particular bureaucrat, you should first raise the matter with them on their talk page. Please stay on topic, remain civil, and remember to assume good faith. Take extraneous comments or threads to relevant talk pages.

If you are here to report that an RFA or an RFB is "overdue" or "expired", please wait at least 12 hours from the scheduled end time before making a post here about it. There are a fair number of active bureaucrats; and an eye is being kept on the time remaining on these discussions. Thank you for your patience.

I hope Just Chilling is okay. He was very active until literally one day he stopped. TonyBallioni (talk) 00:08, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Me too. He did take a year off between 2013 and 2014, so it's not unprecedented. P-K3 (talk) 01:19, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@TonyBallioni and Pawnkingthree: since last few weeks (i think ~3 months), I have been thinking about an optional guideline for established user. Something like, "tell your friend/family to notify wikipedia in case you die." We can do this without revealing their identity. And it wouldnt be much of a workload for wikipedia editors as well. And we already have "missing" and "dead wikipedians". If you guys think we should do that, then I can create a rough draft in my userspace. —usernamekiran (talk) 08:44, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
When I die, I'll simply stop editing. That's all anybody needs to know. ;-) Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 09:22, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Surely that depends on your views about reincarnation ;) Thryduulf (talk) 10:16, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
What, we have to link our accounts to past lives now?! Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:43, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    RfC: is reincarnation a legitimate WP:CLEANSTART? Ben · Salvidrim!  14:22, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I like you guys and all, but in the case of my untimely death, the last thing that I would ever possibly care about is making sure my family notifies Wikipedia. Jfc lol. If someone stops editing because they're busy, because they've left Wikipedia, or because they died, that's none of our business. ~Swarm~ {sting} 10:48, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The world's complex enough that it's reasonable to have a "in case of death" book for your family. I suppose you could toss it all in a will, but things like passwords for financial accounts, autopay bills, subscriptions, social media, etc. aren't always easy to come by, especially if there's division of labor around the financials. I think Rob Berger calls it his "hit by a bus binder" — information on accounts, taxes, etc. It's trivial to toss in a "post my obit to WP:AN" instruction, somewhere between "here's my netflix password, cancel it" and "delete Facebook." ~ Amory (utc) 11:20, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
lol. The keyword was "optional". I think I should make a draft proposal in my userspace. Later we can see where it goes, if it gets good feedback, we can take it to an RfC at VP. —usernamekiran (talk) 13:14, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • I mean I've actually considered this point. I'd also need to add in the WMF since I'd want to sever my access to OTRS as well. Since I'd be concerned about having either password sitting anywhere, it might make more sense to have them create an inactive wikipedia account and me to state somewhere in my userspace that that account has the authority to notify of my untimely permanent wikibreak. Sadly, it looks like we have recently lost an administrator: Wikipedia talk:Deceased Wikipedians#User:Jcw69. If the evidence is sufficient, please remove the flag.--Ymblanter (talk) 07:24, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Done, with thanks for their long service and valuable contributions to the projiect. My condolences to Jcw69's wife and family, friends, colleagues. –xenotalk 13:00, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
