Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Amakuru (talk | contribs) at 17:44, 27 November 2023 (→‎Uncontroversial technical requests: re). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

More likely to be a misspelling of marriage. I've reverted the move of the Mariage disambiguation page. 162 etc. (talk) 22:18, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Fallout Wiki (currently a redirect to Nukapedia)  Nukapedia (move · discuss) – The Nukapedia wiki brands itself primarily as Nukapedia, so I feel like this page name would be more accurate C0NN1E Beep (talk) 21:38, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    The main page [1] still says "Fallout Wiki" in the main page title. I'd have thought the sourcing still supports that name too, so I think this is far from uncontroversial. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 17:57, 25 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    There are two Fallout wikis now: one called Nukapedia, the Fallout Wiki, and then an Independent Fallout Wiki. Given the two share similar names, I think Fallout Wiki should serve as a disam page, so as not to confuse people. That, or mentioning both wikis on the same page. Cheers! Are there articles here for the other two wikis? – robertsky (talk) 05:05, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    Nukapedia occupies the current Fallout Wiki page, with no mention of the Independent Fallout Wiki, while the latter wiki has no kind of pages at all. C0NN1E Beep (talk) 15:16, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Jodi Number One (currently a redirect to Jodi No.1)  Jodi No.1 (TV series) (move · discuss) – unnecessary disambiguation 103.185.174.158 (talk) 14:34, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The actual page contains content from a moved title and the page at your suggested title target reveal contents of a similarly-named dance competition show. I've DABbed the actual title so that it can be easier for one to get the right article target. Please reply if unsatisfied or otherwise. Intrisit (talk) 16:10, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sakha  Sakha Republic (move · discuss) – The word Sakha by itself refers to the "Sakha language". The word individually is used in the sense of "Sakha language" in recent linguistic scholarship, which tends to favor the endonym "Sakha" instead of the term "Yakut" (an exonym). So it is more proper to rename the article to "Sakha Republic". Yokubjon Juraev (talk) 20:01, 26 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    Sorry to say this but, why not rather request the target for your proposed title, "Sakah language" (Yakut language) to be reverted back to that title. However recent it is to be in the fore to be known as your suggested title target, the lead section in-article says otherwise with its official name. What's more, WP thrives on common, concise, precise names. If that is done, there would be little doubt this would go ahead un-objected. Intrisit (talk) 15:55, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    @Yokubjon Juraev: Since this page has been subject to two RMs, most recently in 2020, it isn't uncontroversial to move it elsewhere... Please press the "discuss" button above if you wish to proceed with this request.  — Amakuru (talk) 17:29, 27 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
