Elevation

Is it 501 m (from the template at right) or is it 499 m as we learn from the opening passage? Avihu (talk) 18:46, 8 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 18 September 2023

VulcanoVulcano (island) – The small island [21 km2 (8.1 sq mi), population 952] does not appear to be a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and "Vulcano" is basically an alternative spelling of Volcano (Vulcan disambiguation page, Vulcanization, Vulcanite, etc.) Thus, Vulcano can redirect to Volcano and both the Vulcano (disambiguation) page as well The Volcano disambiguation page could be merged into the Volcano (disambiguation) page per WP:DABCOMBINE. The dab page's lead line would then state, "Volcano or Vulcano may also refer to:". — Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 07:30, 18 September 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. ModernDayTrilobite (talkcontribs) 14:53, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Support, and move Vulcano (disambiguation) to base name. No PRIMARYTOPIC. I don't think in English Vulcano is a common spelling variation for Volcano. Ortizesp (talk) 17:01, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose I believe the island, in spite of its small population, is the primary topic in terms of page views (excepting partial title matches) and definitely carries the most weight in terms of long-term significance, given its geology and the fact that it is the namesake of volcano! I strongly oppose a primary redirect to volcano, at best there is no primary topic per Ortizesp and in that case the disambiguation page should be moved to base name. The dab page should be updated to mention that vulcano is an obsolete spelling of volcano; surprised it does not currently mention it. Mdewman6 (talk) 17:59, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've updated the tab page to mention that vulcano is an obsolete spelling of volcano. Volcanoguy 00:31, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose Going by Google Scholar it seems like in the English language Vulcano is indeed a reference to the island, not an alternative spelling of "volcano". Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 16:08, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per Mdewman6 and Jo-Jo Eumerus. Volcanoguy 19:30, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
