Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Carlobunnie (talk | contribs) at 04:53, 5 May 2022 (→‎Uncontroversial technical requests: Fixed typo). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Oppose speedy move This is an unreleased album. Wait until after it is released -- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 02:45, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Album articles/stubs can be created prior to an album's release though. There is significant coverage of the release thus far. And this will only increase in the coming days. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 03:05, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It might move to Proof (BTS album), but as it is an unreleased album, it should not move to cover the disambiguation page link. This isn't a studio album, and is a compilation album, so it isn't a key album release -- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 03:15, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You cannot genuinely think that the BTS album would not be the more searched for topic, as opposed to albums of the same name by Emily Elbert and Colour Coding (neither of which are notable enough for their own standalone articles), both of whom have received 724 and 83 views to their respective articles within the last 60 days, while the BTS, the Best album (which is a compilation album and not a "key release" according to you) has over 10,000 views within the same period. CC is a defunct Aussie indie band that lasted 2 years, surely you can't think their album would be the primary topic for related album searches. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 04:00, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Requests to revert undiscussed moves

  • Burnout (disambiguation) (currently a redirect to Burnout)  Burnout (move · discuss) – There is no primary topic for this word, therefore the move was incorrect and would require discussion ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 04:01, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    I think most if not all of the items listed in the dab page are named so because of occupational burnout. I think you're right that an RM is needed. Personally, my feeling is it's probably best either leave things as they are now, or possibly move occupational burnout to just burnout (after an RM, of course). Dr. Vogel (talk) 12:17, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Burnout (vehicle) is clearly not named after occupational burnout, and is quite common in real-life. Since the move wasn't discussed, it should be reverted per WP:BRD -- 65.92.246.142 (talk) 10:47, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Just noting that the move in question was performed in February 2021. -- Vaulter 16:52, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
