Undid revision 1224043132 by Onorem (talk): This is a irrelevant information coupled with irredentist ideas, which is why it was removed. What Greece calls Nothern Epirus constituted only a southeren part of Southern Albania, not all of it! Nooother Country has any right to dictate me or any other Tosk, what my region is called! This is really rude!

Southern Albania (Albanian: Shqipëria jugore) is one of the three NUTS-2 Regions of Albania.[2]

It consists of five counties: Berat, Fier, Gjirokastër, Korçë and Vlorë.[3]

The southwestern part of the country is rich in petroleum, and natural gas. Natural asphalt is mined near Selenicë.[4]

Four main ethnographic regions traditionally compose Southern Albania: Myzeqeja, Toskëria, Labëria, and Chamëria.[5] In a broader context, Toskëria is sometimes used to describe the whole cultural and linguistic area of southern Albanians (also broadly referred to as Tosks), in duality with Gegëria, which on the other hand is used for that of northern Albanians (also broadly referred to as Ghegs).[6][7]

Southern Albania is often called Northern Epirus by modern Greeks.[8][9][10][11]
