עברית: שי חרמש הוא תושב קיבוץ כפר עזה, הנמצאת במועצה האזורית שער הנגב ובעברו אף כיהן כראש המועצה וכחבר כנסת. באותה שבת שחורה, הקיבוץ עמד תחת מתקפת טרור נפשעת, אכזרית ומפלצתית של מרצחי חמאס. שי היה נעול כ-20 שעות בממ״ד שבביתו יחד עם חלק מבני משפחתו, עד שהקיבוץ כולו חולץ על ידי חיילי צה"ל. בדיעבד, נאלץ שי לגלות כי ביתו הפך לחמ״ל פיקוד עבור מחבלי החמאס שתקפו את הקיבוץ, וכי הוא נחרב ונהרס כליל. בנו של שי, עומר חרמש, תושב כפר עזה אף הוא, נרצח באותה שבת על ידי המחבלים המרצחים. מספר ימים אחרי מתקפת הטרור, שי חרמש החליט לחזור לביתו במטרה לחפש חפצים אשר שרדו את הטבח ומתקפת הטרור, ומצא כי התפילין והחנוכייה שלו נותרו ללא כל פגע.
